Showing God's Love and Living Christ's Love in St Mellons

Love in the time of Corona

Love in the time of Corona

Faith is difficult at the best of times, even more so when everyday life seems to challenge it. We have recently heard a lot about love in the scripture and teaching we’ve had in our Sunday services (recordings available here).

There have been incredible stories of love reaching us in the national media, of people such as Captain Tom raising tens of millions of pounds as a testament to his love for his country and the NHS. More locally we have also heard about members of our own community who have selflessly rolled up their sleeves to help with FoodBank collections, or to form support groups for those who need help.

Expressions of love have also become more difficult. For many of us, a hug is a key way of greeting one another. Similarly, shaking of hands can allow us to feel a bond with one another. Holding hands is a form of affection depicted for centuries. All of these have been put to a stop by Corona.

Knowing the love of God is a relationship not based in physical intimacy. We cannot reach out and touch the face of God. Instead our faith brings us comfort and confidence, and allows us to see the love of God in the blessings we see and experience in the world around us.
