ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
The Church of the Resurrection is a family church based in St Mellons in East Cardiff, seeking God and trying to do His works in our community. As an Ecumenical Church, we are not one denomination but five!
Sunday Worship
Sunday Worship is the main focus of our Church’s activities. Services take place every Sunday, starting at 10:00am. Communion takes place around once per month. We offer free refreshments after the service, a popular time to catch up with people. Worship tends to be very relaxed!
When we couldn’t meet in person due to covid we started live streaming our Sunday Worship. We continue to do this each week, so if you cant make it to the building, feel free to join us online or catchup later on YouTube at http://service.cotr.org.uk.
HISTORY
1975
In 1975, a covenant was entered into promising a new era of ecumenism and cooperation. The five signing groups were:
- The Church in Wales
- The Methodist Church
- The Presbyterian Church of Wales
- The United Reformed Church
- The Convenanted Baptist Churches in Wales
1991
The Foundation Stone for our building was laid in a ceremony attended by members of the Church and its founding denominations. Although the Church had already begun meeting in a local school, this was the start of our ‘physical’ presence in the community.
Since then, the Church has been a visible reminder of the presence of God at the heart of our Estate.
2019-2022
For the first time, the Church was able to resource a full time Minister to help us develop our mission activities. But 2020 was also the year of the Coronavirus Pandemic. This saw us diversify our ministry and we have launched:
- Zoom Services (for when we are not allowed in our building)
- Prayer Sessions, including a regular Compline Prayer Service (Virtual)
- Live Streamed services on our YouTube Channel
- Dedicated Online Children’s Worship sessions, transferring to the building once restrictions were lifted
